Fridays are for Finishing

Today I bring you not one, but two finished objects. It feels good to finish stuff.

First is a cute dishcloth. I joined a dishcloth swap-thing as a way to try out techniques and stitch patterns without commiting to large projects, and it’s fun! Every month I knit another dishcloth and mail to to someone, and eventually (next month actually) all those people will send me a dishcloth. So anyways, today I knit up a dishcloth. I’ve really wanted to try doing an i-cord border, and having  just done an i-cord for the first time the other day I figured I’d give it a try. I made a Per Orla Dishcloth from this pattern on Mason Dixon Knitting. So cute! I really like pears. It was super easy and quick and I just used whatever colors I had around. Sorry about the pictures, they are not going to be the greatest for the next while. I had to send my DSLR off to be fixed (after only a month!) because the SD slot was not working.

The second finished object is a pair of Granola Pants Longies. These were a test knit, so there is no pattern out yet. But they are just the cutest!! I had this frogged Noro Shinano that was just sitting around looking pretty, so I used it with a neutral (Patons Classic Wool in Natural Mix) and did lots of stripes. There is a bit of a jog on the bottom, but that is ok. These are going to be some good winter pants. Which is a necessity here! If only everyone could look as good in woolen pants as cute babies, we’d all be a lot less cold in the winter. Little O looks fantastic in them. If I have time I also hope to make him some monster pants, but my knitting plate feels so full. Maybe when I finally get around to dying some yarn I can make cute pants with it.

It’s our 6th anniversary this weekend! Crazy! We have a fun day planned. Except dinner, we can’t figure out where to go for dinner. I was looking at restaurants in the city, and the fancier ones have menus that just seem to bloated and overdone, the good looking ones we’ve been to a million times, and the less fancy ones just seem so average and like any other restaurant you could go to in the city. I am sure we will figure it out though. But if you read this and have any suggestions, please leave them!

I have a second free knitting pattern coming next week before I start rolling out some really awesome not-as-free patterns. Seriously, I am excited. I have more awesome ideas than I could possibly knit. It’s a good thing I knit so fast.
