Tuesday Ten: Socks

Ok, so most of these socks are stranded, so all you lacy sock knitters might disagree with my selections, but you can write about socks you like on your own blog. Remember, if you click on the image, it will take you to the Ravelry page, and other links are below the photo.

Bumblebee Socks from Med Pinner (in Norwegian)

I love how the bee striping is created by the yarn. It’s a really great use of variegation. The blog is in Norwegian (I use Chrome and it offers to translate), but the Ravelry link takes you to an English PDF

Flakey Baby Socks from Jujube & Lolo

I’ve actually knit these, and they are so adorable. I think the pair took me a day to knit up too. And look at this baby sock advent calendar from the designer! What an awesome idea. So adorable AND practical. I love little socks.

Rubberduck Socks from therenate (page in Norwegian)

I think a lot of great colorwork comes out of Norway. Here is a link to the English PDF. These socks are just so playful.

Nightingale Socks from Vintage Purls

I want to knit these and buy many skirts to wear them with. Possibly little neck scarves too. But seriously. I want to knit these so bad.

Snowy Woods from Red Bird Knits

If you can see the Ravelry link (by clicking the image) check out other photos of this sock, the front view is really its best angle. I like knitting trees.

L’Amour et la Morte from SpillyJane Knits

This is a good use of skulls. And cables.

Marlene from Vogue Knitting

I really like the patterning on these (is this the first colorwork-free pattern in this lineup?). I love the line definition in this pattern. They remind me of antlers.

Greetings, Programs! from Chris Wass

One day I will knit these for Ryan, I swear. I like nerdy things that don’t look like anything particularily nerdy unless you are in the know. Secret nerdies!

Vinnland from The AntiCraft

These are kind of similar to Marlene, but not really. In that they remind me of antlers, except robot antlers. I think these would be amazing as mittens too!

Noro Stripey Socks from The Needle and the Damage Done

A great use of Noro’s awesome color changes. I keep almost buying Some Silk Garden or Kureyon Sock to knit some of these (Ryan things my ‘almost buying’ is a funny concept, basically it is when I am going to buy something and talk myself out of it). These socks take striped socks to a whole new level.
