Tour de Fleece day 3&4

I got my spinning done for today early. Go me!

Yesterday I cable plied my singles from the day before. I have about 175y/60g. My scale has a dead battery so I need to actually weigh it. I like it. I really like the way cable plying shows off colours. Ryan told me it looked like real yarn. Ha.

I also quickly spun up and plied some mini 1/2oz batts from Little Monkey Stitch & Spin. I have a fair amount of mini batts in different colours from a few places, so I thought I’d start spinning some up to make some Fiddlehead Mittens. I’ve made a pair for someone else before and loved them, so I think I need to make another. But with handspun. I used Noro Kureyon last time and it worked well so I am aiming for something around that weight.

Finally, today I spun up a crazy yarn. I had a mini batt (about 1 1/2 oz) that I got along with an order from Oscar & Sophia (their batts are so colourful and fun to spin! and you can feel the sheep in them which I love). I spun it up thick(ish) and thin. Then I plied it with some Noro while trapping in some feathers. Pretty crazy. It used a lot more feathers than I thought. I want to trap all the things now. Too bad I am out of feathers.

Now I need to figure out what to spin tomorrow! I have a few options, so we’ll see. I also have a bunch more Superwash Merino from Ashford (about 400g) to dye up and spin. It’s SOO fluffy. I bought some KoolAid when I was down in Minneapolis last week (Promise Ring!) so I am going to get a few more colours here to round that out and go crazy. There are so many more KoolAid colours down in the US. I also have some Rainbow Locks also from Ashford that I carded up. I am thinking of spinning a single and plying with beads, but we’ll see. I love plying with beads but I hate stringing them. I need a bead stringing monkey.

    Awesome looking stuff.

I know what you mean about the “real yarn” comment. I used it on myself the other day actually.
